PRIVACY POLICY
Last updated: July 2026
1. Who we are
TablePred (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an independent fan project operated without official affiliation, running a season-long football table prediction game. We are based in Ireland and this policy is written in compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Irish Data Protection Acts 1988–2018. TablePred is not affiliated with, authorised by, or endorsed by any football league or club featured on the platform.
Questions about this policy can be directed to support@tablepred.com.
2. What data we collect
Account data
When you register, we collect your email address, a display name, a username, and a hashed password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google.
Prediction and game data
We store the league table predictions you submit (your ordered list of clubs, submission timestamp, and whether it is a P1 or P2 entry), your accuracy scores, and any Season Award picks you make within a Huddle.
Social content
We store Hot Takes you post (text up to 280 characters), emoji reactions you give, comments you write, and poll votes you cast. This content is visible to other members of the same Huddle.
Huddle membership
We store the display name you choose for each Huddle you join and the date you joined.
Guest sessions
If you use the app without registering, a random session token is stored in a cookie on your device (“tp_session”) so we can associate your Huddle activity with your browser. No personally identifying information is collected in guest mode.
Technical data
Like all web services, our servers receive your IP address and browser user-agent with every request. We do not store or analyse these beyond standard server logs, which are retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging purposes.
3. How we use your data
- To provide and operate the TablePred service, including authenticating your account, displaying your predictions, and calculating scores.
- To send transactional emails you request — email address verification, password reset links, and Huddle invite notifications.
- To allow other members of your Huddles to see your display name, predictions, Hot Takes, and poll votes.
- To maintain leaderboards and activity feeds within your Huddles.
- To protect the service from abuse and fraudulent activity.
- To display advertisements within the service. Ads may be contextual (based on the page you are viewing) or, where you have given consent, interest-based (informed by general usage patterns). We do not share your personally identifiable information with advertisers.
We do not sell your personal data to any third party.
4. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)
- Contract performance — processing necessary to provide the service you signed up for (account management, prediction storage, scores).
- Legitimate interests — server log retention for security and fraud prevention; displaying contextual advertising that funds the free service.
- Consent — where you actively submit social content (Hot Takes, comments, reactions) that is shared with Huddle members; and where you agree to interest-based advertising or third-party advertising cookies.
Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. Interest-based advertising can be disabled at any time via your cookie preferences.
5. Who we share your data with
If you choose to sign in with Google, your authentication is handled by Google OAuth 2.0. Google's privacy policy applies to that interaction. We only receive the profile data listed in section 2.
Email service provider
We use a third-party email delivery service to send transactional emails. This service receives your email address solely to deliver messages you have requested.
Hosting and infrastructure
Your data is stored on servers provided by our cloud infrastructure provider. Data is processed and stored within the EU/EEA.
Advertising partners
We may work with third-party advertising networks to display ads within the service. These partners may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to serve ads and measure their performance. They may collect data such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and interaction with ads. We will always seek your consent before enabling interest-based advertising cookies from third parties. A full list of any advertising partners we engage will be maintained in our Cookie Policy.
Other Huddle members
Your display name, predictions, Hot Takes, comments, reactions, and poll votes are visible to other members of the same Huddle. They are not visible to the general public or members of other Huddles.
We do not share your data with any other third parties.
6. Data retention
We retain your account data and game content for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion of your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, subject to any retention obligations under law.
Anonymised or aggregated data (e.g. overall scoring statistics) may be retained indefinitely as it cannot identify you.
Server logs are retained for up to 30 days.
7. Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Erasure — ask us to delete your data (“right to be forgotten”).
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
- Restriction — ask us to limit processing of your data in certain circumstances.
- Object — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
To exercise any of these rights, email support@tablepred.com. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Irish Data Protection Commission at www.dataprotection.ie.
8. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed password storage, and access controls on our database. No internet transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
TablePred is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with their data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify registered users by email of material changes. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
