HOW TO PLAY
Everything you need to get started. Tap a section to open it.
1. Registration
Join a Private Huddle
A Huddle is a private group prediction league: built for a group chat, a workplace, or your five-a-side team.
- 1Register with your email, Google, or Apple account.
- 2Verify your email: we'll send you a link to confirm it.
- 3Click + Create in the header, switch to the Join with codetab, and enter your invite code; you're in immediately.
Note: Have an invite link instead of a code? Open it, then click Join this Huddle to confirm; one extra click compared to a code, but just as quick.
Join The Terraces
The Terraces is TablePred's open, global prediction pool for a league; anyone can join, any time during the season.
- 1Click Join the Terraces.
- 2Click Predict Now next to the league you want to predict.
Note: Registering is optional but recommended: without an account, your entry only lives on this device and browser; switch to a new one and it's gone. Register to be able to retrieve it anywhere.
Join a Community Huddle
Community Huddles are open groups anyone can find and join: fan groups, regional communities, and more.
- 1Click Browse Community Huddles; no account needed to look around.
- 2Join any Community Huddle that catches your eye.
Note: You'll need to be registered to actually join one; browsing is open to everyone.
2. Predicting
How to Predict
- 1Go to the My Prediction tab (called Predict on The Terraces).
- 2Drag and drop clubs into the order you think they'll finish, or hit Randomize to fill the list automatically, then adjust from there.
- 3Click Save Prediction at the bottom (this button is labelled Predict Now on The Terraces).
- 4You can keep changing and re-saving your prediction any time before the prediction window closes.
- 5Already predicted this league elsewhere? If you've predicted for the same league in another Huddle, a Community Huddle, or The Terraces, your most recent picks automatically prefill your next prediction there; tweak anything you like before saving.
Season Picks
Season Picks let you predict individual-award winners: Top Scorer, Top Assister, Player of the Season, Young Player of the Season, Manager of the Season, Golden Gloves, and First Manager Sacked.
For each category, give a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice. Once the season resolves that category, each rank scores 10 points if it exactly matches what actually happened at that same rank, so your 1st-choice pick only scores against the real 1st-place result, and so on.
For the two manager categories, you pick from the league's actual list of managers; every other category is free text.
3. Hot Takes
Hot Takes is where you post any prediction or opinion you want on record: bold calls, banter, no holding back on the take itself. Posts are capped at 280 characters, and you need to be a member of the Huddle (or have a Terraces entry) to post one.
Keep it within our community guidelines, though: posts that break them can be removed by a moderator. See the Moderation section of our Terms of Use for details.
4. Scoring & Ranking
TablePred rewards how close your prediction lands to reality, not just exact hits. Every club in your prediction earns base points on a sliding scale:
On top of base points, most leagues have a few zones (for example Champions League qualification, European places, or the relegation zone). How many spots each zone covers is set per league by the admins; the bonus itself is fixed: +10 per club in the top zone, +5 per club in the others.
- Predict a club correctly into its real zone, not necessarily the exact spot, and you earn an extra per-club zone bonus.
- Get every position in a zone exactly right, and you earn a one-off bumper bonus on top of that.
A perfect prediction, every club in its exact real position, earns the maximum score possible for that league: 10 points per club, plus every zone bonus and bumper. For a typical 20-club league with 4 Champions League spots, 2 Europe spots, and 3 relegation spots, that's 375 points.
That maximum is also what your Accuracy %is measured against, shown right next to your total score on League Standing (Live Standing on The Terraces); it's the fairest way to compare form across huddles or leagues of different sizes.
To compare your prediction against the live table, open League Standing inside your Huddle (called Live Standingon The Terraces). Alongside the real table you'll see your predicted finish for each club, the gap between that prediction and where they sit now, and the points you've earned so far, all updated automatically as results come in.
